A Touch of Character #6
6 days in to our NPC-a-day series for December, we meet a good dwarf gone bad, a foe eager to spread harm and chaos, but whose ultimate goal is to get revenge on the clan that banished him for his "crimes." I've added in some details that were missing in previous posts.

Name: Rangrim
Occupation: Bandit/Outlaw/Criminal
Appearance: At first glance, you might not even know that Rangrim is a dwarf. He is bald and beardless (see bio below), lacking the impressive hair that all dwarves share. His leather armor is stained a deep red and is reinforced with black, studded bands. To match his studded armor, Rangrim has several facial piercings, including a gaudy nose ring befitting a bull, studded eyebrows, and multiple studs in each ear. One of his eyes is permanently bloodshot. To accent it, he has red veins tattooed around the eye, emanating out from the centre.
Rangrim's appearance is intended to intimidate his foes and his followers alike. He leaves the blood of his victims on his axe to add to his intimidating presence.
Traits & Mannerisms: Rangrim is famous for many things, not all of which are evil or criminal. Most dwarves have a great tolerance for consuming alcohol. Compared to Rangrim, many dwarves could be called lightweights. No matter how much ale or strong drink he consumes, Rangrim never seems to get tipsy, let alone drunk. Those in the know, know not to accept a drinking challenge from this dwarf.
Rangrim likes to talk almost as much as he likes to drink, and though his wits are always with him, he's not the sharpest axe in the weapon's chest. Rangrim often uses the wrong words for even the simplest things. His associates have learned the hard way not to laugh or correct him however, as such incidents typically end in injury or death for the guilty party.
Background: Rangrim was once part of the Ironheart clan and the son of a cleric, Gorfalan Loderr. He was a hot-tempered youth who cared little for the traditions of his family and his kind. He had a knack for getting in trouble, and often came close to crossing many lines. As he entered adulthood, he spent most of his time in the tavern, often shirking his responsibilities and crossing more than one of his elders. Rangrim took his mischief too far one day when he stole an ancient, precious relic from the temple. The relic ended up getting broken. Rangrim was banished for his actions and was publicly shamed by having his hair and beard completed shaved off. His skin was then sealed with burning wax so that he would never be able to grow a beard again. Rangrim embraced his new look, but has never forgiven his clan for his exile, and swears to get revenge on them one day.
